In this disorder (which includes a high percentage of people with refractive errors) the image of the objects is formed in front of the retina and the person sees the distant objects with a blurred vision due to longer eyeball anterior and posterior and increased corneal and lens refractive power; and depending on the amount of refractive error, they clearly see a certain distance and closer than that. The major risk in this disorder, especially in severe myopia is retinal detachment.
This disease is inherited but depends on other factors, except for the gene. It usually appears in childhood, and after development, with the growth of body and the eyes, it increases the length of the eyes, becomes more severe and increases the prescription number of glasses. The glasses of myopic people have a negative number, and the weaker the eye, the higher will be the number.
